Sapphire - A fine soft leaf Buffalo grass.
( ® Stenotaphrum secundatum 'B12' PBR )

So Fine, So Soft, So Beautiful.

A Buffalo grass that also has a super fine texture. This is great for people who want a Buffalo variety, but without the traditional course looking leaf.

Sapphires' fine texture is obtained, not from having a fine leaf, but from having a leaf that fold. So when it is mature the leaves fold at tight angles along the axis. This has other benefits, such as less thatch problems, and a faster growing ability than other traditional Buffalo varieties.

Sapphire has to ability to grow quickly, allowing it to recover easily from wear. With a deep root system it is also able to retain excellent colour during winter.

Sapphire exhibits a moderate to good tolerance to shaded areas, and performs similar to other Buffalo varieties. It can be mowed to 35mm-45mm (in sunlit areas) and 50mm-60mm (in shaded areas). It thrives in hot weather and has been tested to temperatures as low as - 10°C, so it is suitable for colder areas such as Canberra.
